About New Leaf Tax
One Expert.
Start to Finish.
I'm Joshua Taylor, an IRS Enrolled Agent and the only person at New Leaf Tax. When you hire me, you work with me. I answer your calls. I know your case.
No call centers. No account managers. No repeating your story to a stranger every time you call. Just a down-to-earth professional who's handled your situation thousands of times before.
My Story
Why I Do This
Early in my career, I represented a man who was living in his truck and fighting for custody of his kids. His tax debt was one more thing crushing him. When he called me in tears to say I'd gotten it cleared, I shed some too. I never looked back.
That's what this work is about for me. I deal with real humans going through some of their toughest times, and I give them their freedom back. Over 15 years, I've handled more than 900 cases — negotiating millions of dollars in tax debt down to nominal amounts. I've won over 300 Offers in Compromise and resolved more than $8.1 million in tax debt.
I built New Leaf Tax because you shouldn't need a big firm to get big results. The large tax relief companies run on volume — they sign you up, hand you off, and move on. I've watched clients come to me after that experience, frustrated and further behind than when they started.
So I do the opposite. One person. Your case. Start to finish. When you call, I answer. When the IRS sends a notice, I already know about it. When a decision needs to be made, I'm the one with 15 years of context making it. And when it's resolved, you get back to living your life.
What You Get
The New Leaf Difference
Zero Handoffs
You work with me from first call to final resolution. No transfers, no case managers, no strangers.
Flat Fees
You know exactly what you're paying before we start. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices, no upsells.
15+ Years Deep
This isn't a side hustle. Tax resolution is all I do, and I've been doing it longer than most firms have existed.
Straight Talk
We say what we do and do what we say. If something won't work, I'll tell you. If you don't need my help, I'll say so.
Credentials
What's an Enrolled Agent?
You'll see "EA" after my name. It stands for Enrolled Agent — the highest credential the IRS awards to tax professionals. It means I'm federally licensed to represent you before the IRS on any tax matter, in any state.
To earn it, I passed a rigorous three-part IRS exam covering individual taxes, business taxes, and representation practices. I also complete 72 hours of continuing education every three years to keep the license current. The IRS doesn't hand these out.
In practical terms, it means I can do everything a CPA or tax attorney can do when it comes to the IRS — negotiate your case, file on your behalf, represent you in audits, and stop collections. But I specialize exclusively in this work. Tax resolution isn't a side service for me. It's the only thing I do.
Why it matters for you: When I call the IRS on your behalf, they know I'm a licensed professional with full authority to act for you. I speak their language, I know their procedures, and I know how to get results. You don't have to deal with them at all.
EA vs. CPA vs. Tax Attorney
Enrolled Agent
Federally licensed by the IRS. Specializes in tax resolution and representation. Best for back taxes, audits, liens, levies, and settlements.
CPA
State-licensed. Focuses on accounting, financial reporting, and tax preparation. Great at filing returns, but most don't specialize in IRS negotiations.
Tax Attorney
State-licensed. Essential for tax court or criminal cases. For standard IRS resolution, often more expensive with similar results.

I Don't Just Resolve Tax Cases.
I Teach People How to Avoid Them.
Our down-to-earth approach has resonated with folks here in Summit County. New Leaf Tax was voted a finalist for Best Accounting Firm in the 2025 Best of Summit awards — and I regularly present educational seminars through the Summit County Chamber of Commerce, helping local business owners understand IRS notices, collection procedures, and their rights.
Most people don't know what an IRS CP504 notice means until it's too late. My community workshops break down the IRS collection process in plain English — what each notice means, when to worry, when not to, and what to do next.
I believe the best tax resolution is the one you never need. But when you do need it, I want you to know who to call.

- Call me directly — I answer my own phone
- 15 years of experience on every decision
- Flat fees, explained upfront, no surprises
Based in Summit County. Serving All 50 States.
New Leaf Tax is headquartered in Silverthorne, Colorado. But because Enrolled Agents are federally licensed, I can represent you before the IRS no matter where you live.
